Interrogative Sentence – Structure Formula Overview

 

Interrogative sentences are used to ask questions. Their basic formulas are:

 

· Yes/No Questions: Auxiliary Verb + Subject + Main Verb + Rest?

· Wh- Questions: Wh-word + Auxiliary Verb + Subject + Main Verb + Rest?

· Tag Questions: Statement, + auxiliary + not + subject? / Statement, + auxiliary + subject?

· Alternative Questions: Auxiliary + Subject + Verb + Option 1 or Option 2?

· Indirect Questions: Wh-word/if + Subject + Verb + Rest (no inversion)
