Conditional Sentences (शर्त वाले वाक्य)

Definition (परिभाषा)

Conditional Sentences वे वाक्य होते हैं जिनमें किसी शर्त (condition) के आधार पर परिणाम (result) बताया जाता है।
इनमें अक्सर if का प्रयोग होता है।

Example:

If you work hard, you will succeed.
(यदि तुम मेहनत करोगे, तो तुम सफल हो जाओगे।)

Structure of Conditional Sentence

Structure:

If + Condition Clause, Result Clause

Example:

If it rains, we will stay at home.
(अगर बारिश होगी, तो हम घर पर रहेंगे।)

Types of Conditional Sentences

1️⃣ Zero Conditional

Use: Universal truth या general fact बताने के लिए।

Structure:

If + Present Simple, Present Simple

Examples:

1. If you heat ice, it melts.
   (यदि बर्फ को गर्म करते हैं, तो वह पिघल जाती है।)
2. If you mix red and blue, you get purple.
   (यदि लाल और नीला मिलाते हैं, तो बैंगनी बनता है।)
3. If you touch fire, it burns.
   (यदि आग को छूते हैं, तो जल जाते हैं।)
4. If people eat too much, they gain weight.
   (यदि लोग बहुत खाते हैं, तो उनका वजन बढ़ता है।)
5. If water reaches 100°C, it boils.
   (यदि पानी 100°C पर पहुँचता है, तो उबलता है।)

2️⃣ First Conditional

Use: Future में संभव (real possibility) स्थिति के लिए।

Structure:

If + Present Simple, will + Verb

Examples:

1. If it rains, we will stay home.
   (अगर बारिश होगी, तो हम घर पर रहेंगे।)
2. If you study hard, you will pass the exam.
   (अगर तुम मेहनत से पढ़ोगे, तो परीक्षा पास करोगे।)
3. If she comes, I will help her.
   (अगर वह आएगी, तो मैं उसकी मदद करूंगा।)
4. If you run fast, you will win the race.
   (अगर तुम तेज दौड़ोगे, तो दौड़ जीत जाओगे।)
5. If they invite me, I will attend the party.
   (अगर वे मुझे बुलाएँगे, तो मैं पार्टी में जाऊँगा।)

3️⃣ Second Conditional

Use: Unreal या imaginary present/future situations के लिए।

Structure:

If + Past Simple, would + Verb

Examples:

1. If I were rich, I would travel the world.
   (अगर मैं अमीर होता, तो दुनिया घूमता।)
2. If she studied more, she would pass the exam.
   (अगर वह ज्यादा पढ़ती, तो परीक्षा पास कर लेती।)
3. If I had a car, I would drive to Delhi.
   (अगर मेरे पास कार होती, तो मैं दिल्ली जाता।)
4. If he worked harder, he would succeed.
   (अगर वह ज्यादा मेहनत करता, तो सफल हो जाता।)
5. If they knew the truth, they would be shocked.
   (अगर उन्हें सच पता होता, तो वे चौंक जाते।)

4️⃣ Third Conditional

Use: Past की unreal situations के लिए।

Structure:

If + Past Perfect, would have + Verb (V3)

Examples:

1. If I had studied harder, I would have passed the exam.
   (अगर मैंने ज्यादा पढ़ाई की होती, तो परीक्षा पास कर लेता।)
2. If she had left earlier, she would have caught the train.
   (अगर वह पहले निकलती, तो ट्रेन पकड़ लेती।)
3. If they had worked together, they would have succeeded.
   (अगर वे साथ काम करते, तो सफल हो जाते।)
4. If he had called me, I would have helped him.
   (अगर उसने मुझे फोन किया होता, तो मैं उसकी मदद करता।)
5. If we had known the truth, we would have acted differently.
   (अगर हमें सच पता होता, तो हम अलग तरीके से काम करते।)
