Quantifiers: Definition

 

Quantifiers are words or phrases used before nouns to indicate the quantity or amount of something without giving an exact number.

They answer the questions “How much?” (for uncountable nouns) and “How many?” (for countable nouns).

 

Key Points:

 

1. They show quantity – how much or how many

2. They come before nouns – e.g., some water, many books

3. They can be used with:

· Countable nouns (things you can count): many chairs, few students

· Uncountable nouns (things you cannot count): much water, little time
