When to Use (and When to Avoid) Split Infinitives

English:

• Use split infinitives when they sound natural and avoid awkwardness.
  Example: She wanted to really understand the problem. (Better than “to understand really” or “really to understand”.)

• Avoid split infinitives in very formal writing if they feel forced. Sometimes moving the adverb is better.
  Awkward split: He decided to, without any hesitation, accept the job. (Better to restructure.)

Hindi:

• Split infinitives का प्रयोग करें जब वे प्राकृतिक लगें और वाक्य अजीब न हो।

• बहुत औपचारिक लेखन में इनसे बचना बेहतर हो सकता है। कभी-कभी adverb को infinitive के बाद रखना अच्छा होता है।
